Tye is located in Taylor County, Texas at the intersection of Interstate 20 and Farm-to-Market Road 707.  Our population is just over 1,200.  Tye has a median income of $32,344 and home values of $46,100.  Most of our children attend school in Merkel, which is about seven miles to our west.  Tye's city limits borders the City of Abilene and Dyess Air Force Base.

    If you are moving in a manufactured home, you will need a permit. The home may not be older than seven years from the date of manufacture. All homes must be setup facing horizontal towards the street, provided the lot(s) will accommodate this setup. Manufactured homes are only allowed in certain areas.   3. Building a Home
    Building permits are required for new construction and additions to existing construction. Before building a home, please check with our office first to ensure it meets the requirements of the zone the home is planning to be built in.
  4. Buying or Renting a Home
    Planning on buying or renting a home in Tye? Please ensure you have filled out the proper applications. For all homes with an alarm system, whether burglary, fire or medical, you will need to fill out an alarm application. For utility service, you will need the utility application.
